I am currently accepting new clients in-person as well as virtually and look forward to meeting for our first session together. As a therapist with a humanistic approach, I strive to support my clients in their position as the center of their treatment. I strongly believe in a client-centered approach that is focused on individual’s strengths and their capacity for growth and healing. During our first session, clients and I discuss why they are entering treatment, their relevant history, and the issues they would like to address in therapy. Together we identify the approaches that are most likely to meet their needs. Each of my clients has a valued and respected voice in identifying their goals and treatment needs throughout each session. I strive to create an environment which allows clients to share, explore, and manage acute or persistent issues they may be experiencing in their life and help them open new doors to growth and healing.
I have many years of experience working with adults struggling with co-occurring disorders within the criminal justice system, and displaced populations — including those experiencing homelessness and addiction. I have strong roots in community advocacy for those in the most need as well as a striving toward in-depth work in a private practice setting. Using my professional experiences, I work with each client to address issues related to: Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Substance Use, healthy relationships and boundaries, and life transitions.
I use evidenced based approaches including CBT, DBT, Narrative therapy, Solution Focused therapy, and other treatment approaches in order to get to the root of the problem. I love being part of individual’s journeys to creating a place of self-discovery and growth, and I am honored to be part of yours.

Have you tried talk therapy without significant results? Have you watched the videos, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and still you are suffering or finding it hard to change or maintain change? There is most likely a simple reason why traditional talk therapy has not worked for you. That’s because you cannot talk to the part of the brain that holds the memories that are “the roots” of your symptoms and pain. You need more.
I believe all humans have a universal need to feel safe and secure, to be seen and understood. In childhood, some of us did not always have those needs met. These experiences create “attachment wounds” in our minds and bodies. These wounds often result in patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that can make it challenging to feel good about ourselves. You may have hard time relaxing or doing things that are difficult. You might notice it is difficult for you to get close to others, maintain connections and relationships, both romantically and platonically. You might be struggling with depression, anxiety, or noticing patterns in yourself and in your relationships that do not serve you well, but that you cannot seem to change.
Allow me to be your guide in discovering the “why”, or the root of these challenges, and help you move towards healing.
With compassion and humor, we will explore how the brain and body are affected by attachment wounds and trauma wounds, and collaborate to heal both. This results in an understanding, as well as a recognition of your own internal wisdom, that leads to increased mood stability, deeper connections, and an overall reduced reactivity to current life stressors.
I am an EMDRIA-Approved EMDR Therapist, and am trained in PCIT, ABFT and certified in TF CBT. I find combining ego state therapy, attachment-based interventions, and EMDR therapy produces significant positive results that talk therapy alone cannot match. My special interests are working with therapists and other mental health professionals, women of all ages and backgrounds, and those that self-identify as perfectionists and/or high achievers.

Dr. Andrew Nocita
I am a licensed psychologist and a Certified Allied Addiction Practitioner (CAAP), in practice since 1988. I received my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and my addiction certification from the Pennsylvania Certification Board in 1994. My foundational therapeutic approach is Person Centered, and I take a holistic perspective with my clients to address the health of body, mind, and spirit. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a crucial part of the healing process, and that techniques and therapy approaches must “fit” the client in order to be effective—there is no “one size fits all” therapy. My goal, as a counselor and therapist, is to deeply understand my client, and when this happens we are able to identify areas of life that need to be changed, and ways of going about doing that. Therapy is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client who wants to change.
I am trained in a number of therapeutic modalities including Client Centered Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Strategic Therapy, Solution-Oriented Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy. I am comfortable working with the behaviors, feelings, thoughts, attitudes, and habits of those who wish to improve their lives. I am also open to those wishing to explore religious or spiritual aspects of their personalities as they work toward resolution of their life problems and disorders.

Shelley Thacher
I am a licensed clinical social worker who works with individual adults and couples. I received my MSW from Smith College School of Social Work in Northampton, MA, along with additional clinical training and experience at two Harvard teaching hospitals in Boston. I have over thirty years of experience providing psychotherapy, addressing a range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, OCD, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and general problems in living. In addition to individual work, I very much enjoy working with couples and I am trained in Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy (RLT) approach along with an ongoing training with Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson in their Developmental approach to understanding and enhancing relationships.
While my background includes training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), as well as interpersonal and existential therapies, my approach is eclectic, tailored to the individual, with an emphasis in establishing and cultivating a warm, respectful, and secure therapeutic relationship. My passion is helping you to deeply come to know yourself, to learn to hold yourself in warm regard in the face of the imperfections that we all share, and, from a secure base of self-acceptance, to activate yourself for growth in the service of achieving your desired goals.
My foundational philosophy is that humans hold the roadmap to their own healing within. The role of therapy is to provide the conditions within which the inherent wisdom of one’s system can flourish. It is a philosophy that views “symptoms” as coherent and inherently intelligent, while appreciating that “what was adaptive then” may be less adaptive now. Thus the work is integrative, endeavoring to support the development of ways of functioning that serve you more fully in the present. My approach is a collaborative one that appreciates the essential value of client motivation and engagement to create a true partnership in the service of growth.
